Green Living Skin in Educational Design

ECFgroup has a strong connection to the inclusion of nature in educational environments. When we came across this design in Dezeen, we knew we had to share.

The 'Forest" is a wonderful example of the relationship nature can have with educational built environments and the creative design that can come from thinking outside the box.

Nudes , a Mumbai-based architecture studio designed the 'forest' school for a competition. Complete with an 'infinity' loop track, the project is based around two cylindrical volumes encased in nature. The architect studio won the competition and won our appreciation from their design brief to the vertical forest.

"Nudes' design explores the relation between nature and pedagogy in dense urban settlements built on the foundations of “Grow”, “Learn”, “Reuse”, “Plant” and “Play”."

The words used as the foundation to the design have a strong connection in the early learning sector and with ECFgroup. If built the building will grow with the children learning, living and playing. The design brief has a strong foundation in which to build a pedagogy around.

"The 'green living skin' serves to purify the air from pollutants and related challenges affecting the health of the inhabitants of a city," Nudes founder Nuru Karim

The light and cross ventilation that comes with the central cylindrical courtyard evokes a wonderful feeling for the possibilities of the interiors. The intent for the building is hands on learning from early childhood to year twelve.
